ArtsGoggle happens twice a year in Fort Worth, Texas’ Near Southside: the next incarnations are on Saturday, May 19, 2012 and October 13, 2012 from 4 to 10 pm. The arts festival / grassroots gallery crawl is free to the public. The Reception and Awards Ceremony for the 57th Annual Irving Art Association Members Juried Art Show was held on Sunday, May 6. The show will be on exhibit May 1 to May 24, 2012 at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts in Irving, with a traveling Winners Exhibit June 2 to July 8 at the Irving Arts Center Focus Gallery. 26 artists and 59 pieces are included in the 2012 show.

3 Workshops—3 Levels

Learning the Basics is the most important element to being able to draw. The second is practice, practice, practice. These 5 day workshops will give you the foundation to be a great artist in any medium you choose.

Each workshop builds upon the next, if you have never drawn before I recommend taking the first workshop. These workshops are also great for the seasoned artist to take time and get back to basics.

The workshops will be held at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts in Irving. A 5 Day workshop is $150 (for IAA Mbrs. $125). As a thank you to all of the CAC's dedicated members for their continuing support, members are invited to submit 3 images of original 2D or 3D works created within the last two years. The Annual Membership Exhibition will open Saturday, August 4 from 6 - 9 pm at Mary Tomas Studio Gallery. 

All persons with memberships valid through August 2012 are eligible to submit artwork. Entrants must be or become members of The Creative Arts Center of Dallas at the time of submission. Entrants may become a member or renew current membership online, via phone, or in person - see http://www.creativeartscenter.org/becomemember.html. A One (1) Year Individual Membership is $45 or $35 for Seniors, Educators, and Students.

The 27^th annual Texas & Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition awards presentation was held Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Irving Arts Center. Awards and cash prizes were presented to 19 artists for Best of Show, the Award of Excellence and for 1^st thru 3^rdplace and honorable mention in four categories. 

Ann Hardy of Colleyville won Best of Show and $1,500 for White Pumpkin, oil painting. A full list of award recipients is listed below.

Texas & Neighbors is a juried art competition featuring work in a variety of mediums from artists in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico and Louisiana. Approximately 74 pieces were selected for the exhibition from nearly 400 submitted works. Albert Handell, a Santa-Fe-based pastel and mixed media artist, judged the show.

Angie Vangalis, Chairman and President of the Irving Art Association considers it a privilege to coordinate and manage the submission process. There were a total of 141 artists who submitted images for juror, Albert Handell to deliberate upon. The submission breakdown by state: 119 -Texas, 8 – New Mexico, 3 – Oklahoma, 2 – Louisiana, 4 – Arkansas.

For the fifth year, The Chocolate Rose treated patrons to a spectacular selection of floral sculptures and arrangements that complement various pieces of artwork during the first week of the exhibit. For images see the 2012 subalbum of the IAA Photo Album on Photobucket.

The exhibition is presented by the Irving Art Association and the Irving Arts Center and will be on display in the Arts Center’s Main Gallery through May 26. 92nd Annual National Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibit

Presented by the Grapevine Art Project (GAP), the 92nd Annual National Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibit will visit Grapevine May 19th through June 19, 2012. Featuring approximately 45 national award winning watercolors, the exhibit will grace the new Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau at the South end of Historic Downtown Grapevine. SWS Spring 2012 Signature Show

The Southwestern Watercolor Society (SWS) presents a juried show of its signature members. Signature members are those who have been accepted into at least five juried membership shows. "Undun" 
Chris Herod’s work is always provocative. He presents issues and seeks solutions while asking the viewing audience to do the same. In “Undun”, Herod addresses the root causes of Black on Black violence as well as potential solutions, as outlined in Dr. Amos Wilson's treatise: Black-On-Black Violence: The Psychodynamics of Black Self-Annihilation in Service of White Domination. Based on the Hip Hop band, The Roots' concept album "Undun", the 14 pieces will walk through the life of the album’s protagonist, Redford Stephens.

"A Kinder Blue"
Dave Herman is a self-proclaimed idealist, not one that doesn’t understand the contentions among worlds of thought and action, but one that understands and expects a certain level of right over wrong. “A Kinder Blue” is an exhibition that focuses on history and conditions, music, and the measure of mankind in a way that gives better understanding and context to how we use our past to move forward, progressively. It serves as a visual discourse that allows us to honor who we are in the deepest ways possible. It is ideal, it is optimistic, it is progressive, and most of all it is about an organic love and pride that flows from the realities of being human and the human experience.
